Samsung The Frame TV is popular for its art-like design, but if you want to add a wooden frame, you need to know your TV’s model year. Not all frames fit every version since Samsung has made small changes over the years.
This guide will explain why the model year matters and how to quickly find out which one you have.
Why it is important to know the Year that Your Samsung The Frame TV Model was released
When you purchase a wooden frame for your Samsung The Frame TV, here at EventFrame we provide two options: to buy a wooden frame for an older model (2017-2020) and a newer model (2021-2025). This is due to small design changes implemented by Samsung in 2021.
By knowing your model year ahead of time, you save yourself the stress and time spent on returns and exchanges. You’ll make sure you get the perfect fit.
There are a few easy ways to check your TV’s model year:
First Method
Check TV border thickness
A sure and quick way to check which version of your Samsung The Frame TV you own, is to check the thickness of your TVs border. We advise you to do this step first before following any further steps in this guide, because this is the easiest way to find out!
Older 2017-2020 models, have slightly thicker bezels (picture on the left) compared to the newer 2021-2025 models (picture on the right). See pictures below to check the differences.

Second Method
1. Find out your model number
Option 1 - in the TV Settings:
- Press the Home button on your remote so you're in TV mode
- Press and hold the Play/Pause button and hold it for 10 seconds and wait for a pop-up screen named "About this TV" (if it does not show up yet, try again)
- Look for the Model Code
Option 2- on the Sticker on the Back of the TV:
If you can’t access the settings, look for the sticker on the back of the TV. It will have the model code. The sticker may be placed in a different place than shown on the image below.

2. Decode the Model Number
The model code is a number containing different numbers and abbrevations. The last five letters of the model code differ by retailer and region but they show no difference in TV performance. Some store chains offer a variant with a slightly modified model code, often including an extended warranty or exclusive perks, while maintaining identical performance (see table below). It is important to note that while Samsung The Frame TVs model numbers have multiple variations, all of them always include a "LS03", which is a key indicator of this specific model.
Size | US Models | Short Model Code |
43" | QN43LS03DAFXZA | QN43LS03DA |
50" | QN50LS03DAFXZA | QN50LS03DA |
55" | QN55LS03DAFXZA | QN55LS03DA |
65" | QN65LS03DAFXZA | QN65LS03DA |
75" | QN75LS03DAFXZA | QN75LS03DA |
85" | QN85LS03DAFXZA | QN85LS03DA |
Example by rtings.com
To find out the year, you need to pay attention to the "LS03" and which one letter follows right after it. Then check the information provided below to decode the model year. In this example, "QE65LS03BAUXXH", it is either a 2022 or 2023 model, which means it falls into the newer model category. For some years the variating letters following "LS03" may be the same. For our purpose it is not a case of concern, since you only need to know if you own a newer (2025-2021) or older (2020-2017) TV model.

Why it is crucial to know your Samsung The Frame TV model year
1. Difference in bezel thickness:
Samsung has changed the bezel thickness over the years. Older models, like the 2017-2020 versions, have slightly thicker bezels compared to the newer 2021-2025 models. A wooden frame designed for a newer model might not fit an older model, and vice versa.
2. Difference in Attachment Methods
Samsung has made changes to how bezels attach to the TV over the years. 2017-2020 models use a clip-on system, whereas 2021 and newer models use magnetic snap-on bezels.
Wooden frames are designed to fit into these systems. If you buy a wooden frame meant for a magnetic model but your TV uses clips, the frame won't securely attach to your TV. It may even fall off or leave gaps.
In conclusion, understanding the differences between older and newer Samsung The Frame TV models is essential when selecting the right wooden frame so you can ensure a perfect fit and enhance your TV's aesthetic appeal. Always double check your TV's model year and specifications before making a purchase to avoid any compatibility issues.
